Guidelines for remote Math Placement Testing All students must take at least one mathematics or statistics course to fulfill Loyola's Core Curriculum requriement. The type and level of the math course that students' take is often determined by the student's choice of major. Loyola College uses the Accuplacer placement exam to ensure that students are placed into mathematic courses appropriate to their level of competency. This placement exam should be completed remotely by June 12, 2009 so that students can register, if appropriate, for a mathematical science course during registration at summer orientation. The following are the College Board's guidelines for completing the Accuplacer exam remotely. All testing must be done in a secure and proctored setting. Recommended facilities include: - College or university test center (These centers often require an appointment and sometimes charge a fee)
- High School
- Library
Students may not test in their home or at their place of employment. Recommended Procedures for Arranging Remote Testing of Students Well in advance of the June 12, 2009 deadline, contact a local educational institute to determine if test center personnel are willing to administer ACCUPLACER Tests in their testing center. It is not necessary that the institution be a user of ACCUPLACER. The test only requires internet access. Set up an appointmet to complete the ACCUPLACER math placement test. Contact the Academic Advising and Support Center by phone at 410-617-5050 (Monday - Friday, 8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.) or by email at AASC@loyola.edu and provide AASC with the contact information of the proctor. AASC will contact the prospective proctor within 48 business hours and, provided that s(he) meets the necessary qualifications, supply the Username and Password for Loyola's Accuplacer test site. Loyola will be closed for the Memorial Day holiday from Friday, May 22 - Monday, May 25. The University will reopen at 8:30 AM on Tuesday morning. We will respond to all inquiries for usernames and passwords at that time. Once you have the Username and Password, click here for complete instructions on how to access the exam.
Your scores and level of placement will be discussed with you at your advising appointment during summer orientation.
