Apprentice House Olesker Book Launch

Sept. 11, 2008 --

Students, faculty, and friends turned out for the launch of Baltimore journalist Michael Olesker's latest book, Tonight at Six: A Daily Show Masquerading as Local TV News.  The launch took place at Loyola College's Communication Department, where the unique Apprentice House imprint is based. Apprentice House is the country's only campus-based, student-staffed book publisher.

Olesker is a veteran newspaper columnist, who had been delivering on-air commentaries for WJZ-13 in Baltimore for nearly twenty years. Olesker spent the last six months of his tenure at the station practicing a journalist’s primary skill: observation. He noted the changing environment, interviewed frustrated colleagues, and reflected on the ratings freefall at what was once one of the country’s top-rated local TV news broadcasts. That reportage became the basis of his latest book published by Apprentice House, Tonight at Six.
