NOTE: The Elementary Education program requires a major in one of these four content areas (math, science, English or social studies, or another closely related area) and/or a well-rounded liberal arts background, including courses in science, mathematics, English and social studies. For the Secondary Education Program, an undergraduate major (or 27-30 credits) in the content area in which the aspiring teaching is seeking certification (biology, chemistry, earth/space science, physics, English, Spanish, mathematics or social studies) is required. Social studies certification includes majors in economics, history, philosophy, political science, psychology, and sociology.
NOTE: Transcripts from studies not conducted in English must be submitted with a certified English translation.
A TOEFL score report is required only if English is not your native language or if you have not completed a degree program taught in English. An official TOEFL score report cannot be more than two years old. Official scores must be mailed directly from the Educational Testing Service. Loyola's institution code is 5370.
Applicants who hold degrees or have earned credits from non-U.S. institutions (not study abroad programs) must have a course-by-course evaluation and translation done by a Loyola recognized evaluation services agency. Loyola recommends World Education Services (WES).
