RE:     2009 – 2010 ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION: EDUCATION, POLICIES AND SUPPORT SERVICE

Every member of the Loyola University community has opportunities to contribute to the creation of a positive and productive working academic community.  A positive and productive work environment is safe and encourages healthy values and behaviors.  In keeping with those values and in compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989, Loyola University Maryland develops, promotes, and enforces alcohol and drug abuse prevention policies and programs.

Loyola’s policy statement on the drug-free workplace may be found in the policy manual for staff and administrators and in the faculty handbook.  The attached revised informational brochure describes health risks and legal sanctions associated with drug and alcohol use as well as policies and procedures governing students.

Further information regarding the availability of counseling and rehabilitation assistance for students is available from the office of student health and education services, the Counseling Center, and the office of alcohol and drug education and support. Members of the faculty, staff and administration with questions about available counseling and rehabilitation services may contact human resources personnel Doris Trainor , Jane Shock-Osborn, or Alyse Falkenhan at extension 2354 or the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) directly at 1-800-765-0770.
