| Department | Office of the Sophomore Initiative Major: Any | | Hours & Wages | The (GA) position will be 9-month, twenty (20) hours per week, starting August 15 and ending May 15. The position also receives tuition remission for two (2) classes per semester for a total of four (4) for FA/SP and a student stipend for a combined total of $12,500. | | Qualifications | - Demonstrate an understanding of the challenges and issues facing sophomore students.
- Demonstrate a desire and commitment in assisting students in addressing and overcoming the
- challenges that they experience during their sophomore year.
- Comfortable having conversations with students about spirituality and faith.
- Understanding of the importance of living a reflective life.
- Able to facilitate small group discussions.
- Maintain regular office hours. Requires some evening and weekend hours.
- Attend a weekly one-on-one meeting with the Director of the Sophomore Initiatives.
- Serve as a positive role model and advocate for Loyola students and conduct him/herself in a professional
- manner during any and all interactions with students, staff and faculty of Loyola College.
| | Responsibilities | - Assist with the creation, implementation, and evaluation of CrossRoads programs (i.e RoadTrip,
- Discovery, Living Learning Communities, Mystery Bus).
- Assist with designing and implementing the CrossRoads retreat (RoadTrip), including making
- logistical arrangements, planning activities, coordinating student leaders, and providing support materials.
- Assist with the selection and training of the CrossRoads student leaders (this includes leaders for RoadTrip and any additional programs).
- Plan RoadTrip follow-up events and gatherings in an effort to develop and support the mentoring relationships that were initiated during the retreat.
- Develop marketing strategies to recruit students to participate in CrossRoads programs.
- Update and maintain current marketing materials for CrossRoads programs.
- Create and maintain an interactive departmental website.
- Develop and distribute CrossRoads newsletter.
- Assist with assessing the CrossRoads program which includes but not limited to coordinating focus groups to assess the needs of sophomores and interest in the CrossRoads program.
- Research other institutions to determine programs and trends in the areas of discernment, vocational discernment, sophomore living learning communities, sophomore initiative programs, and other programs or areas of interest related to CrossRoads.
- Develop and implement social programming opportunities for sophomores.
- Assist the Director of the Sophomore Initiatives with any and all office administrative needs related to
- CrossRoads.
- Other duties as assigned.
