Re:       Employee Car Pooling: eRideShare.com

In response to the record high gasoline prices seen last year, a study was conducted to investigate options that would ease faculty, administrators and staff commuting costs and support the College’s efforts to go green.  When the cost of developing and administering our own carpooling Web site program proved to be prohibitive, Tom Terenyi, one of our Application Systems Engineers, researched alternatives and identified eRideShare.com as a possible solution.

eRideShare.com is a commercially operated Web site designed for the general public and organizational use.  Loyola College in Maryland has contracted with eRideShare.com to operate a commuter registry and ride locator for Loyola faculty, administrators and staff.  The private listing through its site is available available at loyolaemployees.erideshare.com, password: greyhound.

Because there is open access, Web site users hold sole responsibility for making decisions and arrangements about carpool opportunities with Loyola employees listed on Loyola section of the Web site or non-employees who post in the public sections of the Web site.  Users assume the risks associated with such arrangements voluntarily and agree that Loyola will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury arising from the use of eRideShare.com.  The attached flyer provided by eRideShare.com offers carpooling tips, and a list of the benefits of carpooling.

If there are any questions about this service, please contact the Technology Service Center (TSC) at ext. 5555 or by e-mail at tsc@loyola.edu.

If this arrangement proves to be successful, expansion of the contract to include undergraduate and graduate students will be considered for the Fall of 2009.

I hope you will join the Human Resources Office in thanking Tom for his resourceful work on this effort.
