Georgetown University
37th Street, North West

Center Name
Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service

The Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service is organized to mobilize Georgetown University's scholarly resources to promote and expand the incorporation of community service activities and social justice practice within the curriculum; to promote and support faculty research designed to address questions of importance to the community; and to sustain and develop community service activities that meet needs identified by the community.  With full respect for the diversity of faith and philosophy on campus, the Center upholds the distinctiveness of the Ignatian tradition of service and justice at Georgetown. The Center offers community-based research workshops and one-on-one consulting to faculty and students, supports faculty who include community-based research as a component of their courses, and provides internship opportunities to students interested in community-based research.  The Center also administers the University's Peace and Justice minor and the Community-Based Learning (CBL) course designation process.  Finally, the Center oversees 40 student-run groups, three staff-run programs and a host of special programs, all around issues of social justice.
