Loyola’s Modern Masters Reading Series welcomes poet and essayist Dana Levin on Tuesday, Feb. 1. The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place at 5 p.m. in the 4th Floor Program Room on the University’s North Charles Street campus.
Levin is the author of 2005’s Wedding Day and 1999’s In the Surgical Theater, the latter of which received many of the best-known awards for first books and emerging poets. Her poems and essays have appeared in a wide range of anthologies and magazines, including The Paris Review, Poetry, and American Poetry Review. Levin’s fellowships and honors include awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Witter Bynner Foundation, the Library of Congress, the Rona Jaffe Foundation, and the Whiting Foundation.
A 2007 Guggenheim Fellow, Levin has taught poetry for 20 years, and holds the Russo Endowed Chair in Creative Writing at the University of New Mexico.
The Modern Masters Reading Series, sponsored by Loyola’s writing department and with support from the Center for the Humanities, has brought nationally and internationally known writers to the University’s campus for many years.
