Jesuit Identity Week is a chance for students and members of the Loyola community to recognize, praise, and experience the values of the Society of Jesus at Loyola and around the world.
The week’s events include:
- Sunday, March 20
Kick Off Mass
Everyone is welcome to join in prayer, praise, song, and community in a Mass celebrated by Rev. Chuck Federico, S.J., director of vocations for the Maryland and New York provinces; Alumni Memorial Chapel; 6 p.m.
Ad Maiorem Dinner and Discussion
Ad Maiorem, Loyola's faith, service, and leadership group, is sponsoring a dinner and discussion in the Hug Lounge at 7 p.m. Rev. Chuck Frederico, S.J., will be speaking about incorporating faith and service in his own life and how to bridge the gap between the two ideals. Space is limited. Jesuit Residence Open House
Ever wonder where and how the Jesuits live? Come find out and meet them at their residence right across Millbrook lane from the Student Center. Light refreshments served. Ignatius House; 3 - 5 p.m. with optional Mass at 5:15 p.m.

Theology on Tap
Relax with the Jesuits over a beer and enjoy an evening led by Rev. Sam Sawyer, S.J., affiliate instructor of philosophy. This Loyola tradition for seniors invites the Class of 2011 to “Examen” the past four years and figure out how they will continue to grow in the Jesuit values and ideals learned at Loyola; Space limited to 50 seniors (21 and over only). Luncheon Panel: “Finding God in All things: Jesuit Service Beyond Loyola”
A panel of Jesuits and lay people will share their experiences living the Jesuit values in the real world to give students an idea of the opportunities that will have a lasting impact on them, as well as challenge them, in their journey beyond Loyola. 4th Floor Program Room; noon - 2 p.m.
- Thursday, March 24
Come and experience a student-led reflection on their experience attending Jesuit schools. Alumni Memorial Chapel; 5 p.m. Free pizza and pop afterward in Cohn 33.
Simple Supper and Jesuit Movie Night
Watch the film, The Mission, while sharing a simple meal. Featuring Robert De Niro, the movie is about 18th century Spanish Jesuits trying to protect a remote South American Indian tribe in danger of falling under the rule of pro-slavery Portugal. Informal discussion led by Rev. Joseph Rossi, S.J., associate professor of theology, afterward. Knott Hall B01; 7:30 p.m.
