Catholic Studies Program

The impact and richness of the Roman Catholic intellectual tradition is both the source of and the continuing inspiration for many of the advances of Western Civilization. Today, this tradition remains relevant and vital in the face of a changing, complex world.

To encourage further exploration of Catholic thought and heritage, a group of faculty inaugurated Loyola’s innovative Catholic Studies Program in 1996. The Program provides students with an excellent, comprehensive exploration of Catholicism’s intellectual roots and contributions.

This nationally recognized Program includes more than 90 courses from 14 departments, a Catholic Studies Minor, films, seminars, lectures and social events, and a popular student summer research program.

Open to all students, the Catholic Studies Program has encouraged and enhanced Catholic intellectual life at Loyola.
