Programmatic Support Science Equipment and Technology
Substantial upgrades in laboratory equipment are needed to increase opportunities for experimental and investigative learning across the natural sciences. While the College’s operating budget allows for limited equipment upgrades, funds through Preparing Tomorrow provide an influx of world-class scientific equipment. The new equipment dramatically enhances the effective teaching and meaningful scientific exploration of Loyola’s science programs.
Crossroads: Loyola’s Sophomore Year Program National research is now documenting what even casual observers of higher education have suspected for years: that the choices made during sophomore year often determine how successful and fulfilling a student’s college experience is. At Loyola, the issue is even more pressing as the College seeks to strengthen the retention and graduation rates of its undergraduates. Building on the innovative and successful Alpha Program for first-year students, Crossroads: Loyola’s Sophomore Year Program addresses the urgent need for persistence and for more purposeful discernment among sophomores. The comprehensive program encompasses academic, vocational, social and spiritual initiatives designed to help students discover anew their joys, talents and faith – and how these connect to their academic and extracurricular interests. Capital funding for Crossroads: Loyola’s Sophomore Year program allows second-year students to create a fulfilling college experience – by choice, and not by chance.
