About the Ridley Athletic Complex

Loyola celebrated the grand opening of the Ridley Athletic Complex on March 13, 2010. To learn more about the celebration and the events leading up to it, check out the following:

The Ridley Athletic Complex is constructed on a 71-acre parcel of land on the southwest corner of the intersection of I-83 and Cold Spring Lane, just a short distance from Loyola’s main campus.

The complex features:

  • 6,000-seat grandstand
  • Sportexe Momentum synthetic turf field for NCAA lacrosse and soccer games
  • Two practice fields and an NCAA regulation 400-meter track
  • Spacious, modern locker rooms for home and visiting team
  • Multimedia team meeting rooms
  • Weight-training suite
  • First aid suite
  • Coaching staff offices
  • Press box
  • Food, beverage and merchandise booths
  • Presidential and VIP Spectator boxes
  • Coaches’ locker rooms and lounge and officials’ locker rooms

Twenty-one acres of the site were formerly owned by Sinai Medical Center while 50 were owned by the City. The complex provides an environmentally-sound recreational use for what was one of Baltimore’s few remaining unused parcels of land. Loyola will permanently maintain 29 acres of the 71-acre site as a conservation easement which will eventually include a recreational trail.
