Advanced Studies
All Loyola University Maryland students enjoy a challenging, rewarding academic experience, but if you are particularly interested in pushing the limits of your study opportunities. Many of our majors offer advanced or research projects, honors seminars or special course sequences for top students. In your junior or senior year, you will often have the chance to assist faculty members with research projects or publications. In addition to programs for specific majors, Loyola offers these general opportunities:
Honors Program
Available to students of any major, the Honors program offers an advanced, multidisciplinary approach to core curriculum courses and includes a variety of co-curricular activities. Students apply for the Honors Program during the first-year admission process.
Humanities Fellowships
Sponsored by the Center for Humanities, students engage in either research or creative projects over the summer and receive stipends for their work. In addition, the Center funds students as faculty research assistants during the school year.
Hauber Fellowships
Outstanding science students may apply to this prestigious research program for the summer between junior and senior years. Hauber Fellows receive a stipend and conduct in-depth research projects in close consultation with science faculty.
Sellinger Scholars
This honors program in the Sellinger School of Business and Management begins in the second semester of the freshman year. Declared business or accounting majors may apply after completing their first semester (15 credits) with a 3.5 college GPA or higher. Students take an enhanced curriculum and participate in special extracurriculars including professional experiences and community service activities.
