Modern Languages and Literatures

Students can choose to major or minor in French, German, Spanish, or Comparative Cultures and Literary Studies. Courses are also offered in Chinese, Italian, and Japanese.

All students are required to take a language as part of the core curriculum. Students who choose to major or minor in a language complete courses in composition and conversation, culture and civilization, business, literature, and/or literature in English translation. Students also have the option to combine a modern languages major with an interdisciplinary minor such as Asian studies, medieval studies, gender studies, Italian studies, or Latin American and Latino studies.
