I want to visit
How do I register for a campus visit (including open houses)?
Registration for all campus visits is done online. Check out our Visit Calendar and click on the date and program you would like to attend. Once you have registered, you will receive an e-mail confirmation.
I am interested in sitting in on a class. Who do I contact?
To schedule a class visit, please e-mail Valerie Richardson, our office’s visit coordinator, at vrichardson@loyola.edu. Please allow at least two week’s notice to schedule a class visit.
Do you require interviews?
Loyola University Maryland does not require interviews. Interviews are offered to students as an informational meeting with an admission counselor. We don’t penalize a student who is unable to schedule an interview. The interview can be a great way to ask specific questions that aren’t covered as part of the information session and tour. You are also welcome to contact your admission counselor to discuss your questions by phone or e-mail.

Do all materials have to be postmarked by the deadline date, or just the application?
All materials should be postmarked by the deadline date of Nov. 15 for Early Action or Jan. 15 for Regular Decision. In the event that the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, we will consider the next business day as the postmark deadline. In certain circumstances, extensions could be granted. If you need an extension, please contact admission@loyola.edu.
Where can I e-mail or fax admission materials?
Admission materials can be e-mailed to admission@loyola.edu or faxed to the undergraduate admission office at 410-617-2176.
What additional materials do I need to submit if I don’t send SAT-I/ACT scores?
If you do not submit standardized test scores, you must submit an additional academic recommendation (all applicants submit one teacher and one school counselor recommendation) or an additional essay on the following topic:
Loyola’s Jesuit tradition is a commitment to a liberal arts education and the spiritual ideals of the Society of Jesus, leading to development of the whole person. Loyola is dedicated to educating students who learn, lead, and serve in a diverse and changing world. In 250 words or more, please tell us why the Jesuit tradition at Loyola University Maryland is important to you.
How many letters of recommendation do you require?
Loyola requires one school counselor recommendation and one teacher recommendation. Students who do not submit SAT-I or ACT scores must submit an additional academic recommendation (or can submit an additional essay instead).
Do you accept application fee waivers?
Yes. A student can submit a fee waiver form from the CollegeBoard or a letter from the school counselor requesting a fee waiver due to financial hardships. We waive the application fee for all Maryland Distinguished Scholars – please send proof of your standing as a Scholar (do not pay the application fee when you submit your application).
How do I apply for the Honors Program?
The Honors Program requires an additional application. Learn more and access the application.
Now that I've applied...
When/how will Loyola notify applicants of their admission decision?
All Early Action applicants will receive notification about their admission decision in writing no later than Jan. 15. Regular Decision applicants will be notified of the admission committee's decision, in writing, by March 15. We do not relay information about admission decisions over the phone.
How do I know if my application is complete?
You can check your application status online. Your username and password is e-mailed to you about 48 hours after you have submitted your application. If you need to have this information resent, e-mail admission@loyola.edu. Please understand that it takes up to four weeks to process materials from the time they are sent to us or from the date you applied, if your materials were submitted prior to your application. If you are a transfer applicant, check your application status here.
Will you tell me if my application is incomplete?
Students should continue to check their application status using our application tracker. (Or, follow the application tracker for transfer students.) We will send periodic e-mails reminding incomplete applicants to track their status online. If necessary, you will be able to resubmit any missing materials.
I know my application materials were sent. Why is my application status showing incomplete?
Due to the high volume of applications and corresponding credentials that our office receives, it takes up to four weeks for us to process materials. If you have sent your materials within the past month or submitted your application after the materials, please be patient as we continue to process and match them with your file. If it has been over a month since your materials were sent, please contact your high school to have them re-sent.
It’s after the deadline and my application is incomplete. Will this penalize me in the admission review?
As long as your application and supporting materials were submitted by the deadline, you will be considered for the deadline for which you applied.
Do letters of recommendation have to accompany forms?
Forms do not have to accompany recommendation letters. As long as we receive the letter, with your full name and address, it will be considered as part of your application.
As for financial aid...
What kind of scholarships does Loyola University Maryland offer?
Loyola offers merit-based scholarships based on the applicant’s academic performance and extracurricular activities. There is no separate application for scholarships; all applicants that qualify are considered. The academic scholarship candidate typically has achieved a consistent A average while pursuing the most demanding curriculum available at his/her school. As well, the candidate has explored various opportunities outside of the classroom (e.g. community service, employment, athletics, and/or leadership, etc.). Scholarship consideration adheres to our test-optional policy.
How do I apply for financial aid?
Loyola requires the FAFSA and CSS PROFILE for need-based financial aid consideration. Both forms must be submitted electronically by Feb. 15. For more information on financial aid at Loyola, please visit www.loyola.edu/financialaid.
