Vanessa Dodo Seriki, Ph.D., is a professor of science and urban education and co-director of the Center for Innovation in Urban Education at Loyola. Dr. Seriki's former experience as both a student and high school science teacher in urban schools have led to a personal interest in what she teaches. She aims to empower urban teachers, students, and their families through engagement in science learning. Dr. Seriki’s research interests include the intersectionality of race and gender in education, the accessibility of STEM education by all learners, and critical race theory and black feminist thought. She earned her B.A. in Biology from Wittenberg University in 1999, her M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Purdue University in 2001, and her Ph.D. in Education from the Ohio State University in 2011.
