Alessia

  • Class of 2020

  • Major, Minor English, Communication

“After leaving for college, I was no longer dancing for hours every day,” Alessia says. “I missed it.” When she realized Loyola didn’t have an Irish dancing club, she started her own. She and her fellow dancers raise funds to support the club’s needs, perform, participate in Loyola’s Relay for Life, and just get together to dance. An English major from Boston, Mass., Alessia isn’t the only one who was looking for a way to keep dancing in college. “I am so happy to see our numbers double in size this semester and know that so many people on campus enjoy Irish dancing, too. It’s also really cool to be a little more independent with dance and song choices than when competing. We can perform any traditional Irish dances, but also dance to current pop songs and just have fun with something we love.”
