- Class of 2018
- Major, Minor Psychology, Music
"I was searching for a career that would be a good mix of my passion for music and my desire to help and positively impact those around me and in my community," says Ryan, who is studying psychology and music and is focusing on developing a career in music therapy. A senior from Harvard, Mass., Ryan's passion for music extends beyond his studies to his role as musical director for the Chimes, Loyola's male acapella group; as a member of the Gospel Choir; and as president of the Ukulele Club, which he created and founded with his roommate after their first year. In his senior year, Ryan founded the Diagnostics Club for students interested in the diagnosing and assessment part of psychology. "We have two faculty advisors who work closely with us to make sure we make proper and accurate diagnoses. We go over case studies each week as group and come up with our best guess diagnosis for each case. We then send our results to our advisors for feedback," says Ryan, who started the club for psych students to gain additional exposure to and experience with case studies, in addition to added mentorship from psychology faculty.

I have made so many meaningful relationships at Loyola, both on a personal and professional level. Although I don’t know what will come next, I feel prepared to take on whatever comes my way.
