Scenes for Opera
Orchestra (Partnership with the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra): This 80+ member orchestra is open to students through auditions and is available for credit. The GBYO performs orchestral masterworks (as written by the composer – never arranged) in four concerts each year. Rehearsals are held each Sunday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Loyola’s Timonium campus.
Choir Audition Information
The 2012-2013 year will feature a variety of new activities and performances, including a fall retreat at a local cathedral, a fall concert in the Alumni Chapel (including works by Palestrina, Tallis, Haydn, Lauridsen and Whitacre, among others), a Christmas performance, a Midwinter Mass Concert, and a spring concert of music of living composers, among other activities.
To join, students should do the following:
(1) Sign up to meet with Dr. McDavitt (sign-up sheets are posted on the board near W056, on bottom floor of the DiChiaro College Center, Fine Arts Wing)
(2) Attend the first rehearsal on Wednesday, September 5th at 5:30pm in W056
Note: Students do not need to prepare a piece to perform, but should be ready to sing a few phrases of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" (or a favorite hymn or folk song) and a few other vocal activities.

Jazz Musicians Auditions for the Loyola University Jazz Ensemble:
The Loyola University Jazz Ensemble (a 20 piece Jazz Band) and the Jazz Combo (4-8 Musicians) performs masterworks of jazz as a well as original compositions.
Tuesday, Sept. 4, 12:15 – 1:15 and 3:00 – 4:30
Wednesday, Sept. 5, 10:00 – 1:00 and 2:15 – 4:00
Thursday, Sept. 6, 12:15 – 1:15
Auditions are held at CTW035. It is on the ground floor of the College Center West, on the floor below the MacManus Theatre. Please contact Dr. Anthony Villa at firstname.lastname@example.org in order to set up audition times, and include your email address in this reply.
Jazz Ensemble Rehearsals are Thursdays from 4:40 – 6:00. First rehearsal is on Thursday, September 6. Jazz Ensemble can be taken for credit (1.5 per semester).
Note: Please bring a piece that represents what you have been playing. I am NOT looking for the fastest, flashiest piece. I AM looking for good tone and phrasing. I will ask you to sight-read a simple piece. If you improvise, I will ask you to do so. Registering and Course Credit: Students may register for the Orchestra as a course and receive 1.5 credits upon completion of the semester. Please check WebAdvisor in the near future for course number and section.
