Ian McNeely is the recipient of the Classics Department's first annual "Gnomic Aorist"
award for the best student in introductory Greek (GK 101-102). The award is a garden gnome!

The awards are administered by Campus Compact, a
national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents who are committed to fulfilling 
the public purpose of higher education.  The award honors inspiring student leaders who have
 demonstrated a commitment to finding solutions to challenges faced by their communities.
Rennie's work has been on prison reform. After graduation, Rennie will be staying in Baltimore
to work for AmeriCorps with Notre Dame Mission Volunteers. Rennie will be assigned
to a non-profit that runs a mentoring program for children whose parents are incarcerated and
 a monthly program for women facing incarceration.
