Welcome from the Department Chair!

Welcome to the psychology department website! We are eager to share all the exciting events, fantastic people and impressive accomplishments of our department, so I hope you spend some time exploring our site and learning more about us. I’m thrilled to introduce Michiko Iwasaki, Ph.D. as the newest member of our departmental faculty. Dr. Iwasaki joins us as an Assistant Professor with expertise in counseling and geropsychology. We are also delighted to have Cliff Evans, Ph.D. join us as a visiting Assistant Professor for the 2012-13 academic year. Dr. Evans will be teaching undergraduate courses in research methods, child development and introductory psychology. We also have made some programmatic changes to better address student needs and updates in the field. Our undergraduate major curriculum has been restructured to offer students more flexibility in scheduling the courses that are of most interest to them and to expand their opportunities to engage in research and field experience. Our master’s program is preparing for a revision that will better address the diversity of career interests among our students, and our Psy.D. program is gearing up for reaccreditation by the APA. There is always something exciting going on in the halls and in the offices of Beatty Hall!
We hope that you find what you are looking for on our site, whether that is information about the psychology major or our graduate programs, information about current research opportunities, updates on your favorite faculty and alumni or general information about the field of psychology and Loyola University Maryland. If you can’t find what you need, or you have ideas or information to contribute to our site, please contact Ms. Casey Hofmann at 410-617-2298 or cmhofmann@loyola.edu. Thank you!
