The Psy.D. program in Clinical Psychology is a full-time, five-year program of study. Students entering the program with a Bachelor's degree begin the program at the first year of the curriculum, 1st year students. The first year of the curriculum consists of a total of 42 credit hours, including coursework, professional supervision, and a one-semester externship.  First-year students will be awarded the M.S. Clinical, Practitioner track degree upon successful completion of the required credit hours (typically in January of the 2nd year). Students who enter the program at the first-year level will complete a total of 132 credits, including credit hours for dissertation, clinical placement, professional supervision, doctoral comprehensive exams, and course work.

Students accepted to the program who have already obtained a Master's degree in Psychology may be eligible to begin their course of study at the second year of the curriculum, as 2nd year students. The second through fourth years of the curriculum consist of a total of 93 credit hours. Students will take written and oral comprehensive exams following the third year of the curriculum, prior to applying for internship. The final, fifth year is a full-time internship for all students.

All requirements for the Psy.D. program, including the dissertation and internship, must be completed within seven years of enrollment in the program. This necessitates that students apply for internship no later than the fall of their sixth academic year.
