Loyola's writing department offers a major and a minor. Those who wish to pursue writing studies have the following three options:

The department also offers invitation-only seminar courses where students work in small classes to engage with and write about intellectually challenging texts from a range of genres - nonfiction prose, persuasion, creative writing, and others. The department's diverse courses help students become flexible writers, with creative, analytic, and professional skills. In the picture below, a student from the course, WR325 Rhetoric of Professional Writing, presents his semester project on new media and service-learning.
