The Office of Academic Affairs

The Office of Academic Affairs provides assistance, leadership, guidance, and resources to as well as supervision of the entire academic division in support of the mission of Loyola University.

Dr. Timothy Law Snyder, Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Snyder is the University's chief academic officer. A member of the President's Cabinet, he provides leadership and support to the Deans, Directors, and Heads within the academic division as the University seeks to continually improve its academic programs and faculty development opportunities.

Dr. Jen L. Lowry, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Lowry's areas of responsibility include preparing and supervising the academic division's budgets, providing support to department chairs, serving as the office's liaison for governance, providing support to graduate programs, and integrating academic data collection with the office of Institutional Research.

Dr. Amanda Thomas, Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies
Dr. Thomas oversees the strategic and operational needs of graduate education within the academic division. Dr. Thomas' office is in Beatty Hall 204.

Dr. Martha L. Wharton, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Diversity
Dr. Wharton is the liaison to MHEC and MICUA for academic governmental relations and works with academic departments to develop new majors, minors, and programs.  She is also responsible for coordinating summer academic programs, overseeing affiliate faculty development programs, and coordinating the academic appeal process for graduate students.  Dr. Wharton will continue her work with diversity initiatives including diversity efforts in hiring and faculty retention. She chairs the University Diversity Committee and has budgetary responsibility for employee affininity groups.

Lorie Holtgrave, Director of Budget and Data Management
The purpose of this position is to provide budgetary and data management support to the Office of Academic Affairs.  Specific responsibilities include data management and budget analysis and maintenance of capital, operating and personnel budgets, serving as budget liaison, space and furnishings liaison, and general department support activities.

Kristen Fisher, Director of Ceremonies
Ms. Fisher is responsible for the coordination of academic ceremonies, including commencement, and supervises the processing of student course evaluations.

Deborah Dengler, Executive Assistant
Ms. Dengler is the executive assistant to Dr. Thomas. Ms. Dengler's office is in Beatty Hall 204.

Joshua Gembicki, Executive Assistant
Mr. Gembicki is the executive assistant to Dr. Snyder; he is also the secretary to the Board on Rank and Tenure.

Sandra O'Neil, Executive Assistant  
Ms. O'Neil is the executive assistant to Dr. Lowry. In addition, she is the Secretary for Governance providing administrative assistance to the University governance bodies. Ms. O'Neil maintains the Academic Affairs website.

Ann Burke, Executive Secretary and Office Coordinator
Ms. Burke is the executive secretary to the Director of Budget and Data Management; maintains and reconciles the Academic Affairs office budget and the Academic Affairs capital budget.  Ms. Burke supports the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning Committee, assists in planning the fall and spring teaching workshops and lunchtime topical discussions.  In addition to assisting in the New Faculty Orientation Programs, she also supports the Director of Affiliate Faculty Training Programs; and provides general support to the entire Academic Affairs' office.

Sapreina Acree, Program Assistant
Ms. Sapreina Acree is the Office of Academic Affairs and Diversity Program Assistant.  She provides administrative assistance to the University Diversity Committee and supports the work of the Office of Academic Affairs and Diversity.
