Research Interests

My students and I have studied the synthesis and characterization of transition metal carbonyl complexes containing anionic hydroxo, alkoxo, and fluoro ligands. We have been successful in characterizing Group 6 polynuclear carbonyl compounds containing anionic oxygen-donating ligands once considered to be metal carbonyl anions of uncertain formulation. Through mechanistic studies of these polynuclear species, we have constructed a mechanism to account for thier formulation and reactivity pattern. We are currently interested in exteding these studies to other transition metal complexes and in developing photochemical methods for the preparation of chromium carbonyl complexes containing labile ligands.
