Interns work 8-10 hours per week in a history-related job, supervised by a qualified professional. They also submit papers to the internship instructor. Students enrolled in the internship course earn three credits; grades are given based on the quality of the work. Internships available this spring will include the following agencies and activities, but other sites may be developed to suit students' interests. BALTIMORE CITY COMMISSION FOR HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL PRESERVATION (CHAP) - historic buildings research, urban policy BALTIMORE COUNTY HISTORICAL TRUST, inc. (Towson) - historic buildings research BALTIMORE MUSEUM OF INDUSTRY - labor or industrial history, interpretation programs, overview of museum work FORT McHENRY - interpretation of War of 1812 and Civil War B & O Museum - historic trains and stations MARYLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY - archive work (manuscripts) EVERGREEN HOUSE - historic-house museums, archive work HOMEWOOD HOUSE - historic-house museums, archive work MARYLAND HISTORICAL TRUST (Crownsville) - state historic preservation agency (various activities) MEDICAL AND CHIRURGICAL FACULTY OF MARYLAND (MedChi) - archive work with documents of medical history MARYLAND ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE - mediate consumer disputes AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION OF MARYLAND - practical applications of the U.S. Constitution AIR & SPACE MAGAZINE - editing articles and photos SOCIETY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FELLS POINT AND FEDERAL HILL, INC. - neighborhood historic preservation activities Other internships may be arranged with members of City Council, State Legislature, or U.S. Congress (Senate and House of Representatives), also various government agencies .
