    Loyola College Graduation

During the summer prior to senior year, all rising senior students receive a degree audit.  The degree audit lists all of the courses that the student has completed as well as additional courses needed during senior year in order to fulfill all of Loyola's requirements for May graduation.  These requirements include 40 three- or four-credit courses and 120 credits.  This requirement equates to 5 three- or four-credit courses for 8 semesters.  If senior students want to drop or add a course, please contact Academic Advising and Support Center (A.A.S.C).

Commencement:

The Undergraduate Catalogue clearly states that "only students who have completed all degree requirements including the diversity requirement and the experiential learning requirement in the School of Business and Managament and have earned a minimum cumulative average of 2.000 in all Loyola courses are invited to participate" in the formal commencement ceremony.

Ultimately it is the student who is responsible for identifying the requirements and completing the courses.

 Honors at Graduation
Transfer Course Grades:  The cumulative QPA is used for determining honors at graduation or any other academic honors.  Although the grades for all courses taken at all colleges attended are included, no higher honors are awarded than those earned with grades that appear on the Loyola transcript for courses completed at Loyola or through Loyola sponsored programs.  If transfer courses have grades that lower the QPA, they are used in computing the QPA.

To receive honors at graduation, students must have a cumulative grade point average as follows:

  • Summa cum laude = 3.800
  • Magna cum laude = 3.700
  • Cum laude = 3.500
