The College of Arts & Sciences

The College of Arts and Sciences is composed of twenty-one academic departments with approximately 200 full-time faculty. The College offers undergraduate degree programs in the traditional liberal arts, engineering, speech pathology/audiology, and education. It also offers masters programs in computer science, education, modern studies, pastoral counseling, psychology, and speech pathology/audiology. There is a Ph.D. program in pastoral counseling and a Psy.D. program in clinical psychology.

Dr. James Buckley, Dean of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Buckley is the principal executive officer of the College of Arts and Sciences. He provides vision and administrative and academic leadership required to fulfill the mission of the school; supports the faculty in achieving standards of excellence in teaching, curriculum development, scholarly growth and intellectual contributions, and service to the community; promotes efforts to increase diversity in the student body, staff, and faculty; and fosters the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the college.

Dr. Amanda Thomas, Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Thomas is the Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences.  In her role, Dr. Thomas provides vision and administrative and academic leadership for most of those departments within the College of Arts and Sciences that have graduate and professional programs. She supports the faculty in achieving standards of excellence in teaching, curriculum development, scholarly growth and intellectual contributions, and service to the community; promotes efforts to increase diversity in the student body, staff, and faculty; and fosters the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the college.

Dr. Suzanne Keilson, Assistant Dean of Arts and Sciences
The Assistant Dean provides vision and administrative and academic leadership required to fulfill the mission of the College of Arts and Sciences; supports the faculty in achieving standards of excellence in teaching, curriculum development, scholarly growth and intellectual contributions, and service to the community; promotes efforts to increase diversity in the student body, staff, and faculty; and fosters the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the college.

Ms. Sharita Planter, Executive Assistant
Ms. Planter is responsible for handling the CAS budget and maintaining the Dean's calendar.

Ms. Sandra O'Neil, Executive Assistant
Ms. O'Neil prepares and processes contracts for faculty in the College, as well as assisting in the maintenance of the College web pages.

Ms. Deborah Dengler, Associate Dean's Assistant
Ms. Dengler is the Associate Dean's Assistant for Dr. Thomas. She coordinates office activities and assists the Associate Dean who works with graduate programs and with the departments of Computer Science, Education, Liberal Studies, Pastoral Counseling and Speech Language Pathology/Audiology.
