Criteria for Funding

Overview
The College Diversity Committee has a limited budget available to support events that occur on-campus and further the Vision and Mission of the College Diversity Committee. Events may be lectures, panel discussions, presentations and other related events.

Eligibility
Faculty members of all ranks, staff, administrators, departments, academic programs or College-recognized organizations may submit proposals to the College Diversity Committee. All proposals must involve events that keep with the Mission and Vision of the College Diversity Committee (for these statements, please see the "Standards and Proposals" section). Applicants, including members of the College Diversity Committee, may not submit proposals, which would benefit themselves financially.

Standards for Proposals
The College Diversity Committee will consider proposals of events with one or more of the following goals:

• To provide a forum to engage members of the campus community in issues of diversity,
• To celebrate various aspects of diversity,
• To promote awareness of the benefits of diversity to the College community specifically and to society in general, or
• To otherwise further the Vision and Mission or the College Diversity Committee.

Submitting a Proposal
All applicants must submit the "Funding Request Form" to be considered for funding. The College Diversity Committee will only accept electronic copies of the form. The form may be found on the College Diversity Committee Web site at www.loyola.edu/cdc. It is recommended to submit your form at least 4-6 weeks before the event.

Budget
Proposals must include an itemized budget of expenses that includes, but is not limited to, projected expenses for honoraria, refreshments, speaker accommodations, transportation and advertising. The College Diversity Committee does not fund honoraria for College faculty, staff or administrators. The proposal must also include other sources of funding. Applicants are encouraged to highlight specific items within the overall budget for which funding is requested.

Criteria for Approval
The criteria for approval, applied more rigorously according to the amount of the request, include the following:

1. The contribution of the program to diversity and awareness (as defined by the College Diversity Committee's Vision and Mission statements);
2. The probable interest of the program to the Loyola College community and/or a wider audience;
3. Appropriateness of the program to the target audience;
4. Whether funding from other sources has been secured;
5. The accuracy and clarity of the proposal.

Procedures
All proposals should include the following:

1. The Funding Request Form;
2. A description of the event or program proposed that evidences the "Criteria of Approval;"
3. The backgrounds and credentials for featured speakers / performers;
4. A more detailed budget than that on the proposal form, if necessary or requested;
5. Publicity plans; facility plans and reservations;
6. Submit event to the College Diversity Committee, using the on-line form.

The application must be completed on-line, through the College Diversity Committee Web site at www.loyola.edu/cdc.

How the Contribution Will Be Acknowledged
Submitting a request does not guarantee funding. The College Diversity Committee will consider each proposal based on the guidelines and conditions set forth in this document. All answers will be return to the requester, in writing, generally within 4-6 weeks of receiving the request. If a proposal is rejected, a brief explanation will be provided.
