Loyola College in Maryland welcomes Dr. James J. Zogby, founder and president of the Arab American Institute (AAI) in Washington, D.C. on Monday, March 10, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. His lecture, "What Arabs Think about Americans, Themselves and Politics in the Middle East," will be followed with a question-and-answer session and book signing.
In response to heightened attention on the Middle East following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Zogby published What Arabs Think: Values, Beliefs and Concerns (Zogby International, Sept. 2002). Interviewers from Zogby International - a public opinion research firm established by Zogby in 1984 - spoke with 3,800 Arabs from eight countries about their lives, their hopes, their fears, and their feelings about other countries, including the United States. Zogby founded the Arab American Institute in 1985 to help secure political empowerment for Arab Americans in the United States. Through voter registration, education and mobilization, AAI has moved Arab Americans into the U.S. political mainstream. |
