
Meet the Executive Board EXECUTIVE BOARD OF WOMEN IN MARYLAND HIGHER EDUCATION 
Rosa Amo Student Services Coordinator, University Town Center Prince George's Comunity College Rosa has been the Student Services Coordinator for Prince George's Community College, University Towson Center, for the past nine years. Prior to joining PGCC, she taught Spanish for Native Speakers at Northwestern High School for two years and then served as a Career Counselor for one year. Rosa has also held positions of administative leadership in the Prince George's Hispanic/Latino Chamber of Commerce. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree form St. Lawrence University and a Master of Education in College Student Affairs from Azusa Pacific University. Currently, she is working on obtaining her doctorate's degree in Administration Teaching and Learning from Walden University. In addition to her full-time career in Education, she has been operating a private accounting business for the past twelve years. She is the proud mother of Melanie Amo, her beautiful twelve year old daughter. She has served on the Women In Maryland Higher Education Executive Board since 2009. 
Jo-Ellen Asbury Assistant Vice-President, Academic Affairs Stevenson University Jo-Ellen currently serves as the Assistant Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Stevenson University, heading the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment. Prior to joining Stevenson University, she served nearly two years as a Psychology faculty member at Bethany College in West Virginia and at the College of Wooster in Ohio. She did her Ph.D. and M.S. degrees at teh University of Pittsburgh in Social-Personality Psychology and her undergraduate work at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Elementary Education. Jo-Ellen has had a long interest in women issues. She has previously taught Psychology of Women courses and published research on the issues of domestic violence in families of color. She has served on the Women In Maryland Higher Education Executive Board since 2008. Jacqueline Brice-Finch Dean, School of Arts and Sciences Coppin State University 
Chanda Corbett Assistant Director for Preventive Programs, Counseling Center Loyola University Maryland Chanda is a native from Philadelphia, PA. She completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Temple University. She is a licensed psychologist in the states of New Hampshire and Maryland. She has served as a Staff Psychologist at the University of New Hampshire from 1999-2007 and volunteered as an Oral Examiner for the New Hampshire Board of Psychology and Mental Health and New Hampshire Disaster Behavioral Health Team member. She joined Loyola College in Maryland to serve as the Assistant Director for Prevention Programs in August 2007. In addition, she serves on the Directorate of the Commission on Psychological and Counseling services (CCAPS) of ACPA as Chair and Chair-Elect of the Community Engagement Committee for the Society of Counseling Psychology of the American Psychological Association. She has served on the Women In Maryland Higher Education Executive Board since 2008. 
Kathryn P. Doherty Assistant Vice-President of Academic Affairs, Assessment and Operations Morgan State University Kathryn is the Assistant Vice-President of Academic Affairs for Assessment and Operations at Morgan State University. She holds a Doctorate of Education from the University of Massachusetts and has authored several papers and handbooks and given numerous presentations and workshops on assessment at the local, regional, and national levels. Her professional activities include Team Leader of the Maryland Performance Excellence Award Board of Examiners; past member of the National Society for the Experiential Education Board of Directors; contributing editor for the assessment component of the CAS Standards on Service Learning; member of the Association for Educational Research and Analysis, and the National Society for Experiential Education; and Examiner for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Kathryn was also a member of the Task Force on Student Learning Outcomes that assisted in the development of Voluntary System of Accountability. She has taught at the post-secondary and university level since 1991. She has served on the Women In Maryland Higher Education Executive Board since 2009.

Jennifer Haughie Director of Admissions, Records, and Registration Hagerstown Community College
Jen currently works for Hagerstown Community College as the Director of Admissions in the Records and Registration department. Before joining HCC in 2005, she worked for Shippensburg University, PA for 8 years where she held various positions with the last being the Associate Dean of Admissions. Jen has her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix and her bachelor and master's degrees from Shippensburg University. She resides in Falling Water, WV with her husband Dennis. She has served on the Women In Maryland Higher Education Executive Board since 2009. 
Diane Hampton Director of Institutional Relations Maryland Independent College & University Association Diane C. Hampton is Director of Institutional Relations at the Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA), a position she has held since March 2001. She coordinates the capital grant program for independent colleges and universities and assists MICUA member institutions with the development of new academic programs. She also keeps abreast of federal legislative and regulatory issues and their impact on independent colleges and universities. Ms. Hampton has published numerous articles and presented at several national conferences, especially on the topics of affirmative action and teacher education. She received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from California Lutheran University, Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education from Bowie State University, and the Master of Science degree in Business / Organizational Development from Johns Hopkins University. Diane is married with two adult children and one grandson. She has served on the Women In Maryland Higher Education Executive Board since 2009. Kara Miles-Turner Assistant Provost Morgan State University Kara is currently the Assistant Provost at Morgan State University. Previously she served as Interim Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, Assistant Dean, and then Associate Dean for Administration in the College of Liberal Arts at Morgan State University. Before coming to Morgan, she was an Assistant Professor of History and Assistant to the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Education at Virginia State University. In her current position, Kara oversees the offices of Admissions, Enrollment Management, Transfer, Honors, Center for Academic Support and Achievement, Records and Registration, and Student Retention. Other responsibilities include reviewing student academic appeals and academic agreements. She has served on the Women in Maryland Higher Education Board since 2004, and served as Board Treasurer from July 2006 to July 2009. 
Becky Verzinski General Education Coordinator Morgan State University Becky is the General Education Coordinator at Morgan State University. Additionally, she continues to teach senior-level courses in Traning and Development through the Mass Communications Department at Towson University. She has served as an Assistant Director in the Student Affairs division at Towson University and has over sixteen years of experience as a student development professional. In 2006, she earned her doctorate degree in Urban Educational Leadership from Morgan State University. Additionally, Becky earned her master's degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education (1994) as well as her bachelor's degree in Journalism/Public Relations (1992), from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). She has served on the Women In Higher Education Executive Board since 2009. 
Patricia Wang Associate Director, Planned Giving and Development University of Maryland-College Park Patty's tenure at the University of Maryland spans more than twenty years, during which time she worked in major gifts, scholarships, donor relations, and corporate and foundation relations. She currently serves on the Leadership Gifts team as a planned giving officer and facilitates private gifts from alumni, friends and faculty whose philanthropic intentions, through estate planning, will benefit the university. Patty is also a member of the National Committee on Planned Giving and the National Capital Gift Planning Council of Washington D.C. She has served on the Women In Maryland Higher Education Executive Board since 2006.
