Here you can find information about the program, lessons, ensembles, and where to go for more information. We hope you make the most of your musical talents during your college years. Whether you are interested in pursuing music professionally, continuing to develop your skills or hoping to use your time at Loyola to begin studying music, you’ll find many opportunities. Housed in a recently renovated and enlarged music facility in the Julio Fine Arts Wing, Loyola offers a diversified Music Program including performing ensembles, courses in music history, theory, performance and technology and a professional and student concert series.

Senior Projects

fine Arts NEWS AND EVENTS

  • The Evergreen Players of Loyola University present Aristophanes' LYSISTRATA at the McManus Theatre.  This production is directed by Natka Bianchini.  Showtimes are Feb. 17 & 18 at 8pm; Feb. 19 at 2pm; Feb. 24 & 25 at 8pm.  See the Theatre Departments home page for more information.
  • The Julio Fine Arts Gallery is pleased to present Altered States, a two-person exhibition featuring paintings by Carolyn Case and Paul Jeanes.  The show will run from January 23rd to February 26th with an Artist Talk & Reception on Thursday, January 26th, from 5pm to 7pm.
  • The Fine Arts Department and the Art History Program is excited to announce the hiring of Dr. Kerry Boeye. Dr Boeye is a recent graduate from the doctorial program at the University of Chicago and will be teaching courses on Medieval and Islamic art.
  • Colleen Grant (Art History, '11) was inducted into the Loyola chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
  • Book reviews by Dr. Nygren appeared in the Spring and Fall 2011 issues of Renaissance Quarterly.
  • Dr. Nygren chaired a session on undergarduate research at the SECAC conference and gave a paper on student writing. He will be presenting a paper on a work by Savoldo at the RSA Conference in March 2012.
