The Universidad del Salvador is a private university founded in 1946; it has grown to become the largest private university in the city and one of the most important universities in South America. Criteria for Acceptance - Typically sophomores and juniors with a cumulative average of 3.0.
- Students who can find courses which fit their Loyola academic program and allow full-time participation
- Students who are neither on disciplinary probation nor have a history of serious disciplinary problems should apply.
Academics - Consult the Office of International Programs as early as possible to get assistance on course selections at Loyola so that you are prepared for Buenos Aires.
- Nearly all majors are served but courses are offered in Spanish.
- This program is most suitable for Spanish majors and minors.
- Loyola now offers a minor program in Latin American and Latino Studies.
Courses taken in Buenos Aires can be applied to this, or to a Spanish major or minor. - Offers an Intensive Spanish program before the semester starts (the program is not required but highly recommended and includes homestay).
- Courses are offered in Spanish.
- All students must have completed the intermediate level of the Spanish language.
Length of Stay - This exchange program is offered in either the fall or spring semester or for the full academic year.
- The first term goes from early February to early July.
- The second term starts in mid August and goes to mid November.
- Students are required to attend an intensive Spanish program either in July or in March.
Housing - Private managed residences are available for housing (usually two people per room with a private bath and refrigerator).
- Students may also live with a host family.
- All students live with host families during the intensive Spanish program (paid by the program)
Cost - Students are eligible for consideration for all forms of federal, state, institutional and private sources of aid, except the Federal Work-Study Program. Students studying abroad for a semester or full academic year will forfeit the value of a Federal Work-Study assignment.
- Tuition is paid to Loyola.
- Students must pay for items such as airfare, housing (except for during the Intensive Spanish program) and food.
- Loyola Financial Aid applies.

Application Deadlines - Applications must be submitted to Loyola by December 1st for the fall, spring, or year-long term.
