Metro Auckland, located on the northern island, has 1.2 million residents. The university, ranked best in New Zealand and in the top 50 universities of the world, has 38,000 students. Auckland, known as the City of Sails, is located on the Hauraki Gulf. It has quite a small city feel, and is very clean and lovely.
