Newcastle Program Student Ambassadors Program Ambassadors are students who studied abroad at Newcastle for the 2010-2011 academic school year. Please feel free to contact them with program-specific questions. Jackie Castille Senior, Psychology Major and Natural Sciences Minor jmcastille@loyola.edu "My time in Newcastle is one of those experiences that I cannot help but always think back to. It seems as though every day something reminds me of Newcastle and the people that I met there. That fact in itself shows what a life-changing experience my time in Newcastle was. Not only was I able to meet so many fascinating people, but I had the chance to learn about a lifestyle completely different than my own. It was the sort of eye-opening experience that I think everyone should have, and I know that I will never forget it"

Melanie Hughes Senior, Biology Major mjhughes@loyola.edu "Simply put, studying abroad in Newcastle was one of the best decisions of my life. I absolutely loved my time there! England was the perfect place for me to go for many reasons. Since everyone speaks English, I was able to immerse myself in a new culture without worrying about speaking a foreign language at the same time. Newcastle is not only a wonderful and friendly city, but the university is also known for its excellent science program, which makes it an ideal place for science majors to go. The UK has plenty of great places to visit and easy access to Europe. Living in Newcastle helped me gain more independence and self-confidence."

Kate Murphy Senior, Political Science Major kmmurphy2@loyola.edu "To say that studying abroad in Newcastle, England, was the best decision of my life is by far an understatement. Newcastle was truly my home for my junior year, and I am lucky that it welcomed me with open arms. The friendships I formed with other Loyola students and British students are life-lasting bonds that I am thankful for every day. Newcastle was an ideal destination due to its great location, easy travel access, and of course, the wonderful accents. Anyone who chooses to go to Newcastle will not be disappointed and will most certainly fall in love with the land of the Geordies."

Brittany Novack Senior, Speech Pathology Major brnovack@loyola.edu "My experience abroad can be summed up in the “Someone Like You” song by Adele when she sings ‘time flies, only yesterday was the time of our lives.’ Selecting Newcastle as my destination to study abroad was the best decision I’ve made because I had an unforgettable experience and the best year of my life thus far. Even though they spoke English, which was a benefit, I was able to experience a completely different culture from America. My location in England allowed me to visit numerous cities in England as well as other countries. I really enjoyed spending the entire year abroad and I mostly enjoyed bonding with my flat mates."

Sheila Watko Senior, Communications Major siwatko@loyola.edu "I have fallen completely in love with the land of tea, Tesco and Tinie Tempah after studying abroad for a year in Newcastle. I miss my time in that lovely city every single day. England is so charming and quirky and absolutely perfect in every way. I made so many wonderful new friends, some from my Loyola group and some from the United Kingdom! Anyone who is independent, loves meeting new people and wants to have a new adventure every day would have an excellent experience in the Newcastle program. It was definitely the best decision I have ever made and the best year of my life so far... even if my plan to marry Prince Harry didn’t exactly work out as expected. Why aye!"
