Below you will find the suggested sequence of mathematics/statistics courses for students intending to major in the Mathematics or Statistics with AP credit for calculus and/or statistics. | | | | Statistics | 3 | ST110 | | 4,5 | ST210 or ST265 | | Calculus AB | 3 | MA151 | | 4,5 | MA251 | | Calculus BC | 3 | MA251 | | 4,5 | MA251 and MA252 |
If a student has credit for ST210/ST265, s/he takes the regular sequence of MA courses. Not having to take ST210 in freshman year frees up a slot for the student to take other core/elective courses (for example, CS202).
| | | | | MA151 or MA 251 | MA252 CS201 | MA301 ST210 (CS202**) | MA302 MA351 MA395 | MA304 MA4-- | MA251 and MA252 | MA351 (ST210*) CS201 | MA301 MA304 (CS202**) | MA302 MA395 (ST210*) | MA4-- MA4-- |
* ST210 can be taken any semester. If a student is interested in statistics, taking ST210 earlier may allow the student to get into upper level ST courses sooner. ** CS202 is strongly recommended. |
