Letter from the Pre-Health Advisor Welcome to Loyola! These are exciting times for those individuals interested in a career in the health professions because of growing manpower demands and the development of new technology and knowledge across the fields. By way of introduction, my name is Bradley Levin, M.D. and I am a cardiothoracic surgeon with more than 25 years of clinical experience. I have taught, guided, and counseled medical students, interns, residents, and nurses throughout my career. With that unique perspective, I now serve as Loyola’s Pre-Health Advisor and co-chair of the Pre-Health Committee. My goal is to assist you in achieving your goals and becoming successful. To that end, I hope to meet with you as you embark upon your pre-professional studies. As you progress through your years here at Loyola College, we will work together to coordinate your studies, plans and aspirations, as well as help you with the pragmatic aspects such as appropriate course work, applications to professional school, interviews, and standardized pre-professional national exams. The Pre-Health Web site will provide you with the materials you need to guide you in your endeavors. Additionally, there will be meetings to help keep you on track and supplemental informational handouts to help you organize your career path. My commitment to working with you is predicated upon your willingness to accept the responsibilities your pre-professional career demands. This entails a mature, thoughtful, and well-organized approach to the work ahead of you, as well as working with me to achieve the high standards and dedication that professional schools demand. I look forward to our close association and collaboration through the years! Sincerely, Bradley H. Levin, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.C.C. |
