Medical School Course Requirements

Most medical schools require successful completion of the following courses before being considered for admission:

• One year of calculus
• One year of general chemistry
• One year of biological sciences
• One year of organic chemistry
• One year of physics

At Loyola, all students interested in a career in the health professions are strongly recommended to enroll in General Chemistry I and the corresponding lab during the first semester of their freshman year.

Many health professional schools are now requiring additional courses, so students should check the course requirements for each school of interest.
