2009-2010 Highlights
  • A $1 million gift from the estate of former trustee Gen. Alexander M. Haig, Jr., created the Alexander M. Haig, Jr., Endowment Fund for Science, Faith, and Culture.
  • Donors contributed more than $3.35 million to Loyola's Annual Fund and its supporting programs, such as the unrestricted Evergreen Fund and other current-use initiatives including the Center for Community Service and Justice, academic departments, and student programs.
  • Cash gifts to Greyhounds Athletics reached an all-time high, and increased 30 percent over last year.
  • The Class of 2011 set a University record by raising more than $55,000—drawn from the participation of 52 percent of the class—to create an endowed scholarship in memory of Stephanie Parente and Evan Girardi, two classmates who passed away while students at Loyola.
  • Milestone Reunion Weekend inspired hundreds of alumni to return to campus and reconnect with their alma mater and fellow Greyhounds. Nearly 100 people volunteered to serve on reunion committees, and many more showed their support for Loyola by participating in reunion class gift campaigns. The Class of 1961, newly inducted into the Golden Greyhounds, took top honors both for participation, at 36 percent, and total funds raised—an astounding $513,055.
  • A longstanding Loyola tradition, the annual John Early Society Christmas Party, celebrated its first New York City event. A second New York event is planned for December 2011, in addition to the Baltimore party.
  • A growing number of alumni and friends included Loyola in their estate plans. Twelve new planned commitments were recorded during the 2010-11 giving year, while $589,859 in prior commitments were realized.
