A successful Mentor.

Mentor Responsibilities

Each person in the mentoring process has specific responsibilities in creating and fostering an effective relationship between the Mentor and Protégé.  The Mentors responsibilities include:

  • Willingly accept the mentoring partnership.
  • Work with your Protégé to complete a Mentoring Agreement and develop a Mentoring Action Plan to accomplish your mentoring goals.
  • Provide guidance as your Protégé implements the Mentoring Action Plan and achieve results.
  • Provide ample opportunity for experience-based learning.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to your Protégé.
  • Conclude the mentoring relationship and complete the Mentoring Evaluation Form to evaluate whether goals were achieved.

Are you ready to be a successful Mentor?

If you can respond "yes" to each of the following statements, you are ready to become a Mentor and meet the challenges of a mentoring relationship.

  • I understand the mentoring process and can offer coaching and guidance.
  • I understand the roles and responsibilities of a mentor, am ready to perform the tasks assigned and can give and receive feedback as defined in this program.
  • I am able to provide coaching and the opportunities that transfer experience, skills, and knowledge.

Getting Started

  • Once you have determined that you are ready to be a successful Mentor, complete the Mentor Application.
  • The Mentor selection process is competitive.  If selected, The Loyola Executive Alumni Association Mentoring Committee will contact you to inform you as to whether we were able to pair you with a Protégé.
  • You will then be notified with the date and location of The Mentor/Protégé Orientation where you will be introduced to your Mentor.
  • Deadline for application is January 30, 2008.
