A successful Protege.

Protégé Responsibilities

Each person in the mentoring process has specific responsibilities in creating and fostering an effective relationship between the Mentor and Protégé.  The Protégé’s responsibilities include:

  • Complete a Mentoring Agreement with input from your Mentor.
  • Work with your Mentor to develop a Mentoring Action Plan aimed at accomplishing your goals.
  • Schedule reviews with your Mentor.
  • Implement the Mentoring Action Plan and achieve results.
  • Conclude the mentoring relationship and complete the Mentoring Evaluation Form to evaluate whether goals are achieved.

Are you ready to be a successful Protege?

If you can respond "yes" to each of the following statements, you are ready to become a Protégé and meet the challenges of a mentoring relationship.

  • I understand the mentoring process.
  • I understand the roles and responsibilities of a Protégé, am ready to perform the tasks assigned and can give and receive feedback as defined in this program.
  • I will take responsibility for setting agendas and meetings with my Mentor.

Getting Started

  • Once you have determined that you are ready to be a successful Protégé, complete the Protégé Application.
  • The Protégé selection process is competitive.  If selected, The Loyola Executive Alumni Mentoring Committee will contact you to inform you as to whether we were able to pair you with a Mentor.
  • You will then be notified with the date and location of The Mentor/Protégé Orientation where you will be introduced to your Mentor.
  • Deadline for application is January 30, 2008.

Confidentiality

The success of the process demands a high level of confidentiality between the mentoring participants. One way to ensure this confidentiality is to outline in the Mentoring Agreement the level of confidentiality the Mentor and Protégé will observe in sharing information during the relationship.
