NEW for Summer 2008 Strategies for Success is a one-day pre-orientation workshop offered for incoming freshmen with disabilities who want to get a head start identifying the supports Loyola College has to assist them in their transition to college. Resources from all over campus will be highlighted. Answers to the following questions will be provided in an interactive, hands-on, fun way! - Where do I go to request supports?
- Who can help me develop a schedule that emphasizes by strengths?How do I advocate for myself and my needs?
- Where are the resources on campus that are available to assist me with my studies?
- How do I organize my class work and my time?
- What do I do when I am stressed out?
The workshop cost $25 dollars ($50 for students who register and cancel). Students who attend this workshop will move into their rooms on Wednesday, August 27th and attend a welcome dinner that evening. Mission The mission of the Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) to provides services for students with disabilities which ensure access to all Loyola College programs and activities. The development, administration, and coordination of programs and services that help eliminate barriers of any type (e.g., physical, programmatic, attitudinal, or electronic) accomplish this goal.
Eligibility for Services Students must meet the academic standards set for admission into the College. Once admitted into Loyola a student is responsible for disclosing his or her disability to Disability Support Services in order to receive services. Recent documentation of the disability is required for a student requesting services. This confidential information is maintained in the DSS Office and not released without the student's signed consent.
