The Honor Code Process
If your professor believes you have violated the Honor Code in class, he or she will present you with a written description of the violation on a Violation Report Form that will also include the sanction to be imposed in the class. If you agree with this description of the violation, check the appropriate box and sign the form. The Honor Council will arrange a hearing to discuss the violation with you. After this hearing, the Honor Council may decide to impose sanctions in addition to the sanction imposed by the instructor in the class.

If you disagree with the description presented by your instructor, you should check the box to request a hearing by the Honor Council. You will soon be contacted by a member of the Honor Council who will provide guidance in preparing for the hearing. Refer to the Honor Code Document for further details. Note that the Honor Council has no jurisdiction over the sanction imposed by the professor for the class. You should request a hearing only if you believe that you did not violate the Honor Code.
