s To: All Loyola Students From: Leonard Brown; Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Life g As many of you may know by now, Upper Primo’s is currently in the process of being renovated to make it a more community based environment. A number of residents have commented on the desire for more social space on campus and the idea to have a place in the residence halls where residents could come together seemed important. The completion of this project is due to the devotion and hard work of numerous folks around the College community. I would like to highlight the following groups that worked with our office to help make this happen: SGA, Event Services, Facilities, the Dean of Students Office, and the Business and Finance Division. Currently there are two pool tables and two foosball tables which any resident can use, free of charge, 24 hours a day. You do not need to check out any equipment for the foosball tables however in order to receive pool table equipment you must sign it out with a Newman Desk Assistant. In addition, there are 3 large plasma TV's that have been installed. Each of these TV's has expanded cable packages so more programs can be viewed than are available in the student's residence hall rooms. There are also ports beneath each TV's for video gaming systems. New furniture has also been ordered including leather recliners, plush sofas and several coffee tables. There is a short back order on some furniture items so look for it within the next few weeks to arrive. We are very excited that the space is coming together. Phase II of the project will take place over the summer with the addition of 2 plasma TV's, new lighting, new desks, as well as additional seating/tables. If you have any questions about this space or have program ideas, please see your RA or contact the Office of Student Life. A rendering of the final space appears below: g |
