The Student Life Graduate Positons are exciting opportunities to be involved with collegiate life at Loyola. The graduate positions report to an Assistant Director of Student Life and assist the directors in either running a residential area, office, or desk area. Responsibilities vary but can include supervision of student staff, programming, judicial intervention, and housing operation administration.

Graduate Residence Coordinators usually maintain 10 office hours per week, while the Graduate Office Coordinator and the Graduate Desk Coordinator maintain 15 office hours per week.

The Graduate Residence Coordinator and the Graduate Office Coordinator live on campus and participate in an on-call duty system.

All three positions (Graduate Residence Coordinators, the Graduate Office Coordinators, and the Graduate Desk Coordinator) work closely with Loyola's undergradute students.

Qualifications:

  1. Earned bachelor's degree and full-time enrollment in a graduate degree program (Master's or Ph.D.) at Loyola University Maryland.

  4. Knowledge of student development theory with the ability to put this theory into practice.
  5. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate peers.
  6. Strong multi-tasking skills.

We have taken time to talk with our current and past GRCs about what they feel is important to include in the position. We continue to place the academic success of our graduate students as our first priority and ensure that we are maximizing the graduate student's ability to balance academics with the assistantship.

Here is what some of our GRCs had to say about their graduate experiences in Student Life at Loyola:

"This GRC position interested me because it gave me the opportunity to become part of the Loyola community. It is sometimes hard to feel connected to your school as a graduate student, but this GRC role gives you the chance to really become involved. This position has also helped me determine my future career path - working with the college student population. This GRC role provides you with job skills that are transferable to nearly any career."

- Shannon R.

"The GRC position has allowed me to enhance my leadership skills while also learning how to work with diverse groups of people. The position has helped me learn how to be a better communicator, mediator, and most importantly, listener. It excites me that I get to help build and foster a sense of community among RAs, residents, faculty, and the greater community across Loyola's campus."

- Jennifer C.

"The GRC position has meant much more than just a job to me. It has allowed me to invest myself into the Loyola College community and impact the lives of the students. I have gained many valuable experiences from working with motivated and enthusiastic students and from knowledgeable and dedicated student life professionals."

- Alex C.

"My experience as a GRC has allowed me to stay connected to undergraduate students as well as practice the skills that I am learning in the classroom. The Student Life staff is dedicated to my academic and professional success, and this position has provided me with a supervision experience like no other!"

- Elizabeth R.
