Interested in becoming an RA - please carefully read the information below! If you have questions regarding which process applies to you, contact William Toffling at wptoffling@loyola.edu

Resident Assistants are a crucial part of the Student Affairs Division and Office of Student Life.  The RA commits himself/herself to creating a total educational environment in which all residents are encouraged to achieve their unique potential.  In pursuing this goal, the RA has to assume many responsibilities.

By having the opportunity to interact with students of diverse backgrounds, the individual student can broaden his/her awareness of both others and self and gain valuable insight in learning to function as a member of a group.  The RA position requires flexibility, adaptability, enthusiasm, and commitment as he/she is called upon to respond to changing needs and situations.  The necessary qualifications and major responsibilities of the position are described below.

Financial Aid Considerations

Your compensation package for your work as a staff member is considered as earned income, which means that there are implications in terms of financial aid.  If you receive financial aid, this is considered as part of your financial aid package and could affect other sources of income such as loans, grants, and other types of aid.  We urge you to contact a financial aid counselor to discuss how a staff position might impact your financial aid package before making the decision to apply.
