First-Year Housing Options

First-Year students have the option of living in a Double Room or a Suite.

  1. Double rooms are shared by two people. Students who reside in doubles share a common area bathroom with approximately 4-8 students. Double rooms do not have kitchens or cooking areas within the rooms. However, each residential area has a full-size kitchen. There are lounges, study areas, computer labs and laundry facilities in each residential area. All doubles are located in residence halls that house first year students only. Double rooms are located in Flannery O'Connor Hall (formerly East Residence Hall), Butler Hall, Hammerman Hall, and Hopkins Court. The design of Flannery O'Connor Hall doubles is slightly different.  In Flannery O'Connor Hall, two double rooms share a bathroom that is located between the two double rooms.  The bathroom is not located in a common hallway.
  2. First-Year students not living in doubles, as well as all upperclass students, live in suites. Suites are apartment style rooms shared by 4-8 students. Each suite contains a bathroom and a kitchen, which is shared by only those that live in that suite. There are lounges, study areas, computer labs, and laundry facilities in each residential area. Suites are located on the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th floor of Campion Towers and in Lange Court Stairwells.

Substance Free Room/Suite

Substance free rooms/suites allow students to live in a substance free environment but not in a substance free house. Substance free rooms/suites are available throughout campus.  All students can request to live in a substance free room/suite. The Office of Student Life makes every effort to house substance free students together.
