Why Join the Loyola College Resident Affairs Council?

Aside from being the fun and exciting group of people that we all are, the RAC of Loyola College is a creative and dynamic branch of the Student Government Association that deals with the residents of the College.  We address the problems, concerns and questions that resident students may have, along with representing the collective interests of Loyola’s resident students to the SGA, Administration, and the community at large.  In conjunction with these functions, the RAC provides social and educational events for individual residence halls and the college as a whole by organizing community building activities with other organizations on campus, and actively promoting diversity in activities and policies.  Such activities include RAC Week, Lil’ Sibs Weekend, and Exam Care Packages

It's also an easy way to meet other students and get involved in the campus community!

"RAC was a great way to get to know people in my hall. It was also a great way for me be a leader in my hall and do my part to make living there more fun. Getting involved with RAC as an Area President or member of an Area Leadership Team also allows you to be a voice for your hall, representing them to Student Life and addressing their concerns and issues. Most importantly, being on RAC means you get to plan events for your fellow hall-mates; in Hammerman last year we had a Super Bowl Party, a Paintball outing, two Ice-Skating trips, and a trip to a Pumpkin Patch around Halloween, among other great events. RAC also plans events for the whole campus, most notably the RAC-sponsored Winter Semiformal, The SnowBall, which was held at Camden Yards last year. I would recommend RAC to anyone who is seeking to be a leader in their hall, by planning fun events for their dormmates and by voicing their concerns to Student Life. It's a great way to show some leadership on campus, to have some fun, and to get to know your fellow hallmates."

Rich Fogal - RAC Area President, Hammerman Hall, 2005-2006 - Campion Tower, 2006-2007

The Resident Affairs Council is also highly involved with both regional and national affilations of NACURH (The National Association of College & University Residence Halls).  Loyola College's regional affiliate, CAACURH (Central Atlantic Affiliate of College & University Residence Halls) is one of eight regions that make up NACURH.

The National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated, recognizes living on campus as an integral part of the college experience, and therefore strives to be the organization of choice for residence hall leaders by providing comprehensive resources for college and university students seeking to create the ultimate residence hall environment and experience. Through conferences, information lists, and other resources CAACURH strives to improve residence communities and build leaders throughout the region (nacurh.org).
