Gardens Area Check Out Information:

To all Gardens area residents:

This semester has gone so fast!  We hope that you have had a great semester capped off by a strong performance during final exams.  Here is some information regarding checking out of Gardens during final exams.  There are several things you know:

  1. 24 hour quiet hours begin on Monday, May 1 at 11pm.
  2. Fill out the Damage and Cleaning Responsibility form (one per apartment) and return to your RA by Monday, May 1. Proper completion of this form is important! If you clean an area, it needs to be clean when the last resident checks out; i.e if Joe cleans the kitchen and leaves Thursday, Bob needs to keep kitchen clean until he leaves Saturday or Joe could be charged.
  3. Failure to clean/arrange room properly can result in forfeiture of housing for the fall as well as fines and fees for cleaning.
  4. Cleaning Supplies: Garbage bags will be available in front on each RAs door beginning April 30, 2006.
  5. If you are leaving before May 10, 2006, you should make an appointment with your RA by signing up on the bulletin board within your building. After May 10, residents should sign up on the Bulletin Board outside the Dorothy Day Office.  If you are a seniors or have a contract extension, you will need to make arrangements with your RA for checkout during senior week. Contract extensions are available in the main Student Life Office until April 28, 2006.
  6. Residents must have all belongings and have cleaned their area before RA will even go into apartment. A RA will check to be sure residents have completed their parts of the Damage and Cleaning Responsibility Form. You should be prepared to submit room keys at this point. Residents and  a RA will review Room Condition Report and look at room. After this is complete, you can leave.
  7. Damage bills will be generated and sent out in late May. COMMON AREA DAMAGE CAN NOT BE APPEALED.
  8. Residents must depart within 24 hours of last final exam. The Gardens area Student Life Staff has a list of everyone's last final exam. Students found in violation of this policy may face immediate removal from campus.

If you have any questions or concerns, please see your RA or Michael Puma at x2517 in the Gardens Area Office.

We hope that you had a great experience living in Gardens!
