Application Procedures for Freshman Class Applicants 2009-2010 Academic Year 1. Merit-Based Scholarships All applicants for admission will be considered for merit-based academic scholarship award, provided their application for admission is complete by either the Early Action filing deadline of November 15, 2008 or the Regular Decision filing deadline of January 15, 2009. A separate scholarship application is not required.
2. Need-Based Financial Aid a) 2009-10 CSS PROFILE Application: Register online for the PROFILE Application. The College Board’s website address is www.collegeboard.com. After completing the registration process, file the PROFILE Application online. Loyola College’s CSS Code Number is 5370. Click here to access the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE Student Guide. b) 2009-10 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): Obtain a Federal Personal Identification Number (PIN) using the Federal PIN website, www.pin.ed.gov. Parents should also obtain a Federal PIN. Once created, the Federal PIN allows access to the applicant’s data in several Federal Student Financial Aid systems and also serves as that person’s electronic signature. After receiving your Federal PIN, file the FAFSA online. The FAFSA website address is www.fafsa.ed.gov. Loyola College’s FAFSA Code Number is 002078. Click here for the 2009-10 FAFSA on the Web Worksheet. c) Social Security Number Requirement: Provide your Social Security Number to the Office of Undergraduate Admission. On the Common Application, enter your SSN in the "Personal Data" section. On the Supplement for the Common Application, enter your SSN in the "Biographical Information" section. Or on the Loyola Advantage Application, enter your SSN in the "Your Information" section. Your SSN is a primary identifier and is required to assure the accurate electronic transmission of the data you supply on the CSS PROFILE Application and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to your Loyola College student record. Your SSN along with all other personally identifiable information included in your student record will not be disclosed by the College without your consent or as allowed by federal and state law. d) Parents' and Student's 2008 Federal Tax Returns: Your 2008 Federal Tax Return and your parents’ 2008 Federal Tax Return information will be used to verify the financial information reported on the PROFILE and the FAFSA. Loyola College participates in the College Board’s Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) to collect parent and student tax return forms. After you file the PROFILE Application, the College Board will send you complete instructions for submitting your Federal Tax Return forms. Submit your tax return information to the College Board's Institutional Documentation Service no later than March 2, 2009. e) CSS PROFILE and FAFSA Filing Deadline: Complete the PROFILE Application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than February 1, 2009.
3. Financial Aid Eligibility Notification Dates a) Merit-Based Scholarships: Students who are accepted for admission under the Early Action program will be notified no later than February 15, 2009; students who are accepted for admission under the Regular Decision program will be notified no later than April 15, 2009.
b) Need-Based Financial Aid: Students who are accepted for admission under the Early Action program and who meet the February 1, 2009 need-based aid filing deadline will be notified no later than March 15, 2009; students who are accepted for admission under the Regular Decision program and who meet the February 1, 2009 need-based aid filing deadline will be notified no later than April 10, 2009.
